Spotlight on a Local Partner: Edu-Futuro

By Katie Fogleman, January 13, 2016

Though our work takes us around the world, some of our favorite projects are a lot closer to home—in our own backyard, in fact.

Local nonprofits in the DC-Maryland-Virginia area are doing awesome work to strengthen our community, and we love helping tell their stories.

Last year, we were excited to work with Educación Para Nuestro Futuro (Edu-Futuro), a nonprofit that partners with Arlington Public Schools to help immigrant youth and parents navigate schools and apply to college. Through their three major programs, Edu-Futuro builds immigrant parents’ understanding of the US education system, provides leadership development and college prep for low-income high school youth from immigrant families, and trains parents and youth from diverse backgrounds who seek a strong foundation in Spanish.

From launching a Robotics Club at Arlington’s Gunston Middle School to winning almost a million dollars in college scholarship money for their Emerging Leaders Program participants, Edu-Futuro had a big year in 2015.

We’re pumped to see what they do in 2016!
