Grown-Ups Spell for Good

By Katie Fogleman, April 26, 2016

The linguist was in. The judges were ready. The spotlights were on. Excitement was high—as were nerves.

It was the Grown-Up Spelling Bee, and the Burness BEE Aggressives were ready to take home the title.

Unfortunately, we did not win, but we did have a great time. And most important, the Montgomery Coalition for Adult English Literacy (MCAEL) raised money to continue their very important work of helping adults gain English literacy skills.

(Did you know that one in ten adults in Montgomery County doesn’t read or write well enough to fill out a job application? MCAEL is working to change that!)

Thanks to MCAEL for including us in this awesome event. We’ll BEE back next year to take home the title!
