Health System Reform

There are tremendous changes going on with how health care is paid for, delivered and received. Leaders are looking for ways to reduce what we spend on health care, improve quality, harness data for better health, and get patients more engaged in decisions about their care. At the same time, the definition of what comprises our “health system” is broadening beyond the walls of traditional medical care to encompass all players in a community that can create opportunities for better health. Burness is helping to drive policy change and build momentum towards creating a better functioning system for health at the local and regional levels. Through sustained messaging, media outreach and advocacy, we are helping states increase access to dental care and eliminate disparities with the creation of mid-level dental providers. We launched a national listening series alongside the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and ONC to generate robust discussions on harnessing health information—from electronic health records to fitness tracking devices—to improve personal and population health. Burness has been at the forefront of pushing improvements to the current physician payment system, we have built momentum to make medical information more transparent to patients, and we work alongside the Commonwealth Fund and the Health Care Cost Institute to share the latest data and research on cost drivers and health care use.

The US health system continues to evolve at a rapid pace, striving to reduce health care costs, improve quality and harness data for better health. But the definition of our “health system” is broadening beyond traditional medical care to encompass all players in a community that can collaborate to create environments that foster health.

Burness is working to drive policy change and systems reform across the rapidly changing health ecosystem. Through sustained messaging, media outreach and advocacy, we are helping states change the dental delivery system to increase access to dental care and eliminate disparities with the creation of mid-level dental providers. We launched a national listening series alongside the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Office of the National Coordinator to generate vivid discussions on harnessing health information—from electronic health records to fitness tracking devices—to improve personal and population health. Burness has been at the forefront of pushing recommendations to the current physician payment system, and we work alongside the Commonwealth Fund and the Health Care Cost Institute to share the latest data and research on cost drivers and health care use.
