Dan Klotz is a veteran writer and advocate with more than 20 years of experience leveraging publicity to help propel public policy campaigns. He has produced opinion pieces that have appeared throughout the world’s media, in outlets including New York Times, Financial Times, Washington Post, USA Today, Guardian, CNN.com, National Geographic.com and AlJazeera.com.
His career has spanned a wide range of policy issues, including the rights of indigenous communities in the US and around the world; finding new ways to treat and prevent tuberculosis, malaria and other diseases of poverty; efforts to halt deforestation practices; the importance of federally funded agricultural research; international shark conservation; smoke-free workplaces; the cleanup of toxic waste sites; and preservation of wild areas on land and in the ocean.
A native New Yorker, Dan received a B.A. in English from Cornell University. He is also a member of the board of directors of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Prince George’s County, Maryland.
Why I'm at Burness
I have dedicated my career to public service, to making the world a better place—and, in doing so, I’ve spent the past two decades handling communications and writing for non-governmental organizations across the U.S. and around the world. For me, working for Burness is a perfect fit.
Hobbies
Walking through the woods and taking pictures of anything and everything. These walks tend to be much longer than anticipated (“Daddy, can you please hurry up?”).
Favorite Book
The Lord of the Rings—all three of them. But I’m no fan of the Peter Jackson movies, the Ralph Bakshi version is much better.
