Kelly Miterko

Senior Associate, Public Health and Public Policy

Kelly joined Burness in the spring of 2017 and provides strategic communications support to a variety of projects focused on public health and policy, specifically related to healthy kids and communities, for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Voices for Healthy Kids.

Prior to coming to Burness, Kelly worked for more than six years in First Lady Michelle Obama’s office at The White House. Serving in several roles in Mrs. Obama’s office, she most recently was the Deputy Director of Let’s Move!, Mrs. Obama’s national initiative to help kids and families lead healthier lives. As Deputy Director, Kelly helped manage multiple facets of the initiative, from communications efforts, strategic planning, and partnership development, collaborating across government, non-profit organizations, and the private sector.

Kelly graduated from Stony Brook University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Science with a concentration in Public Health and a minor in Business Management.

In her free time, Kelly enjoys playing tennis, spending time with family and friends, and creating DIY projects around her house using her passion for woodworking.
