Building Support for Afterschool Programs
Work with Afterschool Alliance
Afterschool programs keep kids safe, inspire a love of learning, instill healthy habits, and help working parents keep their jobs. More than 10 million children and teens across America are enrolled in a program, but nearly 20 million are waiting to get in.
Burness is helping the Afterschool Alliance raise awareness about the growing demand for and the need to invest in quality afterschool programs. Much of our work has focused on the America After 3PM campaign, including developing messages, hosting in-person training and webinar events, creating infographics and social media ads, and planning and executing targeted Twitter and Facebook campaigns.
A focal point of this effort has been the series of graphics that enliven important data from several Afterschool Alliance reports. These graphics have been adapted for state afterschool organizations nationwide and printed at poster size, posted to websites, shared at meetings, and used across a variety of social media to educate policymakers and raise awareness about the benefits of afterschool programs.
