Planting the Seeds of Green Revolution in Africa
Work with AGRA
In sub-Saharan Africa, the majority of smallholder farmers—those farming on an acre or two of land—struggle with access to high quality, productive seeds. And their yields lag far behind their potential. The desire to give African farmers a wider range of seed choices to improve production and income for millions of smallholder farmers was one of the main drivers behind the founding of the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) in 2006.
In 2014, Burness worked with AGRA to tell the world about the tremendous progress made by AGRA and its partners to expand access to a wider variety of locally-adapted seeds. We wrote and designed a report that used compelling graphics, photos and stories to share the major milestones achieved, lessons learned and the challenges remaining.
