Poverty Alleviation

Since 2008, the number of Americans living in poverty has hit record levels, and the gap between the richest and poorest Americans is wider than ever. Burness has been working on issues related to alleviating poverty using multiple communications tools. Through our efforts, we have brought attention to the spread of poverty to the suburbs; new models for community development that create healthier places to live, learn, work and play; and the challenges that working Americans face to becoming financially secure. Burness has been a close partner with leading think tanks like the Brookings Institute and the Urban Institute, the Federal Reserve Bank and the Low Income Investment Fund, and major foundations like the Ford Foundation and Citi Foundation, to raise the visibility of research and strategies aimed at lifting up solutions that can help everyone climb the economic ladder and improve how well and long they live.
